ACRAM Foundation Empowers Women: Fighting Discrimination, Maternal Health Issues, and Domestic Violence
Women in Uganda deal with a plethora of issues, such as gender norms, discrimination, and poor maternity and reproductive health. However, ACRAM Foundation is taking the lead in paving the way for a better future for Ugandan women through its Women Empowerment Programs.
Challenges faced by Women: As a result of their inferior social
standing than males, women in Uganda have less options for decision-making, education, and work. Domestic violence is frequently caused by cultural conventions around marriage and divorce, which also hinder women’s empowerment. Women are additionally hampered by problems with their reproductive and maternal health, such as a lack of access to family planning and high rates of maternal mortality. Women’s chances are further restricted by gender norms that give them household responsibilities.
Empowering women through various programs: ACRAM Foundation’s programs give women the education, guidance, and public awareness they need to influence and exert control over their physical, social, economic, and cultural contexts.
The Vocational Skills and Training program’s art and craft skill training assists disadvantaged women in becoming self–sufficient. Women who receive business coaching from
ACRAM Foundation are able to make wiser financial decisions and become financially independent.
