Child Support

Located in Central Africa, Uganda is a country filled with potential. Its population of nearly 49 million people is comprised of more than half children, offering a dynamic future filled with possibilities. However, this potential is at risk due to the aftermath of two decades of conflict as well as high rates of HIV/AIDS. Unfortunately, up to this day, many children especially in rural areas are still living in poverty and without access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and
shelter.

While progress has been made in recent years, many children, specifically those in rural areas, still live in poverty, facing a lack of basic necessities like food, shelter, and clean water. Despite the fact that more children are attending school and fewer are dying of preventable illnesses than in the past, a great deal of work remains to be done.
Regrettably, the following statistics indicate that the situation for children in Uganda is still not where it should be:

At ACRAM Foundation, we’re committed to fighting for a
better future for these children, and we need your help.
Essential services such as schools and healthcare facilities are
often overcrowded and under-resourced. Furthermore, laws
and policies have been passed that could help make a positive
difference in the lives of children, but they are often not
adequately resourced or enforced.
Our programs are designed to deliver lasting impact, inspire
change, and uphold children’s rights. We work in partnership
with communities, governments, civil society, and the private
sector to provide the support that is needed for long-term
development and emergency relief efforts.
Uganda has generously opened its doors to almost 1.5 million
refugees fleeing some of the worst conflicts in the world, with
over 65% of them being children. While the country has shown
great generosity, the influx has put even more of a strain on
already-overburdened resources.

Empowering Communities for a Brighter Future: Our Comprehensive Approach to Education, Health, Child Protection, and Poverty Reduction.

Join us in our commitment to support Uganda's children through ACRAM Foundation's initiatives that bridge the gap between humanitarian emergencies and long-term development efforts.

Education

We equip young minds with the tools to succeed by training teachers, building schools, and providing equipment for quality learning. Our early learning programs give children under six the head starts they need, while we help older children who dropped out of school return to education.

HEALTHCARE AND NUTRITION

We believe no child should go without access to quality healthcare and nutrition. That's why we support rural clinics to improve maternal and newborn health by providing essential equipment and medicines. We also run feeding programs to combat malnutrition among children and mothers, promote breastfeeding, and provide adolescents with information about sexual and reproductive health.

CHILD PROTECTION AND CHILD RIGHTS GOVERNANCE:

Children are the heart of our mission. Our goal is to empower children with knowledge about their rights, so they can demand it from those in power. We also strive to strengthen the local and national child protection systems, make schools, and community facilities safer, and provide safe spaces for the most vulnerable children in society.

YOUTH LIVELIHOOD AND CHILD POVERTY:

We understand that poverty is a difficult hurdle to overcome. We provide a range of vocational training programs and equip youth with the skills they need to earn sustainable incomes and set up small businesses. Additionally, we support community savings and loan groups to invest for the future.

Breaking Barriers and Building Bright Futures: How Our Donor-Supported Program in Uganda Tackles Early Child Marriage Head-On

Last year, we made significant strides in preventing early child marriage in the Namuwongo Kampala suburb of Uganda, thanks to the generous support of donors like Benny, Cathy, and Rachael.

Through comprehensive training, families gained a deeper understanding of the risks and negative impacts of child marriage, while local leaders were empowered to develop action plans to prevent it. Girls' parents were equipped with incomegenerating skills and provided with incentives to keep their daughters in school, such as receiving a goat for every vulnerable girl's family.
